The Bank of Danetia (Banca Danetzias) has announced that it intends to gradually phase out its current mathematician–physicist series of banknotes in favor of a new series celebrating prominent figures from Danetian history.
Speaking about the decision, representatives of the Bank stated:
“It’s time to incorporate Danetian figures into our currency.”
The Bank added that work on the new series is already underway.
“We’re currently working on it.”
Among the historical figures reportedly under consideration are: Myron Dorostolite, Prince Hendrik I, Alexandros Krystevos, Yurik Aslan, Dobrotitza, and Ovid, although no final designs or denominations have yet been officially confirmed.
The Danetian Stater
The official currency of the Danetian Republic (Danetiska Respublica) is the stater, issued exclusively by the Bank of Danetia. Its name is inspired from an ancient Greek coin of the same name. Like many modern currencies, the stater serves as the standard unit of account for prices, salaries, taxation, savings, and everyday commerce throughout Danetia.
Current denominations include both coins and banknotes, with the latter forming the backbone of everyday circulation.
Although the present banknote series honors renowned mathematicians and physicists from world history, the Bank of Danetia now believes that the nation’s currency should increasingly reflect the people who shaped Danetia itself.
An Icon of the Stater
Perhaps the most recognizable note of the current series is the Euler D$1 banknote. Featuring the Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler, the note has become an iconic symbol of the Danetian stater and is widely associated with the modern visual identity of the currency.
Since its introduction, the Euler note has become one of the most recognizable pieces of Danetian currency, appearing in educational materials, promotional illustrations, and photographs shared both within and outside the country.
Looking Ahead
The Bank has not yet announced a release date for the forthcoming historical series. If adopted, the new series would represent a significant shift in the visual identity of the stater, placing Danetian history and national heritage at the forefront of the country’s currency.
